What does a Modern Workplace cost?

Accepted Answer

The Modern Workplace starts from €10 per device per month for the Basic plan. The Medium plan with backups and software distribution costs €19.95 per device per month. The Comprehensive plan with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint costs €29.95 per device per month. All plans cancel monthly. You also need a Microsoft 365 Business Premium licence (€19.56/user/mo), which we provide as part of the package. For a company with 20 employees, this amounts to €2,400 to €7,188 per year for management — a fraction of what an internal IT employee costs.

What is the difference with the Online Workplace?

The Online Workplace runs your complete Windows desktop in our data centre in Eindhoven or Den Bosch. You connect via a secured connection. With the Modern Workplace, you use your own laptop or PC — we manage it remotely via Microsoft Intune. The Online Workplace is ideal for industry-specific software that needs to run centrally (such as Exact, AFAS or dental software). The Modern Workplace suits companies that mainly work with Microsoft 365 apps on their own hardware. Many clients combine both: Modern Workplace for field workers, Online Workplace for office staff.

Which devices are supported?

Accepted Answer

We support Windows 10, Windows 11 and macOS devices. New Windows devices are automatically configured via Windows Autopilot: the employee opens the laptop, logs in with their company account and all software, settings and security policies are automatically applied. For macOS we use Microsoft Intune for the same result. Existing devices can also be enrolled in Intune afterwards without the user losing data.

Can I combine this with Microsoft 365?

Accepted Answer

Yes, in fact: the Modern Workplace is built on Microsoft 365 Business Premium. This licence is required and includes Microsoft Intune (for device management), Azure AD (for identity management), Conditional Access (for access control) and the Office apps. We supply and manage this licence as part of the package.

What is Microsoft Intune?

Microsoft Intune is Microsoft’s cloud-based platform for device management (also known as MDM/MAM). We use it to remotely manage the configuration, updates, security and compliance of all your devices. Intune is part of Microsoft 365 Business Premium. In practice this means: we can roll out software, enforce security policies, wipe devices if lost and generate compliance reports — all from the cloud, without needing to be physically near the device.

How does onboarding of new employees work?

Accepted Answer

Via Windows Autopilot: you order a new laptop from any supplier, we register the serial number in Intune. The employee opens the laptop, connects to the internet, logs in with their company account and everything is automatically configured — software, settings, security policies, VPN, printers. Within 30-60 minutes the laptop is fully set up. No IT department needed, no manual installation, no USB drives with installation files.

What happens if a laptop is lost or stolen?

Accepted Answer

If a device is lost or stolen, we remotely wipe it via Intune. All company data is immediately removed. For a BYOD device (employee’s own device), we only wipe company data — personal photos and apps remain intact. Thanks to BitLocker encryption, the hard drive is unreadable to third parties anyway. A replacement device is fully set up via Autopilot within hours.

Is the Modern Workplace cancellable monthly?

Yes. All Modern Workplace plans cancel monthly, without long-term contracts or cancellation fees. We rely on the quality of our service. If you want to stop, we help with a smooth handover.

How is company data secured?

Accepted Answer

Security is the core of the Modern Workplace. All devices are encrypted with BitLocker, so data is unreadable if lost or stolen. Via Conditional Access, only managed, compliant devices can access company data — an unknown device is automatically blocked. Multi-Factor Authentication is standard for all users. The Comprehensive plan adds Microsoft Defender for Endpoint: advanced threat detection that recognises ransomware, phishing and suspicious behaviour before it causes damage, including Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR) and security reports.

Can employees use their own laptop (BYOD)?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Bring Your Own Device is fully supported. With Microsoft Intune we create a separation between company data and personal data on the device. The employee retains full privacy over personal apps, photos and files. Company data is separately encrypted and protected. When an employee leaves, we only wipe the company data — personal data remains untouched. This makes BYOD attractive for companies that don't want to purchase hardware.

How long does the migration take?

On average 1-2 weeks for the entire company, regardless of size. We start with an inventory of your current devices, software and security status. Then we roll out Intune management in phases: first a test group of 2-3 devices, then the rest. Employees barely notice the transition — they get a prompt to log in and management becomes active in the background. Existing software and files stay in place.

What is the difference with traditional IT management?

Traditional IT management requires an internal IT employee who physically visits devices, or an on-site server as a management point. With the Modern Workplace, everything is managed from the cloud via Microsoft Intune. No server needed, no local network required, no physical presence of IT staff. Employees can work securely anywhere — at the office, at home or on the road — and management works exactly the same way. This makes the Modern Workplace particularly suitable for companies with multiple locations or remote workers.

Which software can I use with the Modern Workplace?

Any software that runs on Windows 10, Windows 11 or macOS. The Microsoft 365 apps (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) are rolled out by default. Via the Medium or Comprehensive plan, we also install custom software via Intune: think Adobe Acrobat, industry-specific tools, VPN clients or company-specific applications. Software is centrally managed and automatically updated.

Is the Modern Workplace suitable for multi-location companies?

Accepted Answer

Yes, especially so. Because management works entirely from the cloud via Microsoft Intune, it doesn't matter where a device is located. Whether your employees are at the office in Amsterdam, working from home in another city or on-site at a client — the security policy, updates and support are identical everywhere. No local server or network is needed. This makes the Modern Workplace ideal for companies with distributed teams.

You call us on 085 013 4500 or send an email. Within 30 seconds you have a technical specialist on the line — not a call centre agent who passes on your question, but someone who can help directly. Most issues are resolved remotely via remote tools. If needed, we also come on-site. Support is included in all plans, no extra costs.

A modern workplace is the way Microsoft builds a workplace: one identity in Microsoft Entra, your Microsoft 365 environment, a managed device or a managed workspace, security that runs along automatically, and tools to work together. We deliver that workplace in two versions. The Online Workspace runs on our own servers in Eindhoven and Den Bosch and costs €38 per user per month + Microsoft 365 Business Premium €19.56 = €57.56 all-in. Already have Business Premium? Then you only pay the €38. The managed own laptop costs €10 (Basic) or €19.95 (Medium) per device per month.

What is the difference between a modern workplace and a digital workplace?

There is none. They are two names for the same idea. You will also come across modern workplace, Microsoft workspace and digital working environment. They all describe a workplace where you sign in with one account, your files sit centrally and the device or the workspace is managed remotely. We call it the modern workplace and deliver it in two versions.

Online Workspace or own laptop: which one fits us?

Accepted Answer

If you work with industry software that has to run centrally, such as Exact, AFAS or practice software, the Online Workspace fits. If your people mainly work in Microsoft 365 on their own laptop and want to keep working offline, the managed laptop fits. If you have to prove that your desktop and your files sit in the Netherlands, the Online Workspace is the logical choice. Combining is fine: many customers put field staff on their own laptop and the office on the Online Workspace.
