Ghost is the CMS of choice for modern publishers: Substack-style newsletters with paywall, paying members, and an editor that doesn't get in the way. Unlike WordPress, Ghost is built content-first, not plugin-first — less bloat, faster, more focus on the writing process.
At Virtual Computing, Ghost runs in a Node.js container with MariaDB. We manage updates (Ghost releases monthly), handle SSL and connect your own domain. Combine with Stripe for paying members — Ghost handles subscriptions, paywalls and email delivery automatically.
For those who want to leave Substack or Medium behind and build their own brand: Ghost is the open-source choice. No 10% cut for the platform owner, no vendor lock-in on your member list.
